A New Week

Theodore B Olsen is my new hero in his eloquence and direct dialogue in Conservative terms as he writes for Newsweek in defense of and support for Equal Rights for the LGBT community in same-sex marriage.

Attorneys Theodore B Olsen and David Boies are presenting to the California Supreme Court the legal action to strike down the pernicious Proposition 8 on Constitutional grounds.

Olsen and Boies are no strangers to difficult and controversial topics and is best known for representing the opposing sides of Bush and Gore in the hotly contested Presidential election in 2000.  I’ve forgiven him for beating his friend Boies and helping to put George W Bush into the White House.

Olsen a prominent Republican conservative, the head of Ronald Reagan’s Office of Legal Counsel fighting against racial preferences in hiring in schools and views this a constitutional violations of equal protection under the law.

Olsen’s wife Barbara was among the passengers on American Airlines Flight 77 which was crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11/01.

The team of Olsen and Boies will argue for the two Gay Couples on the Perry side in Perry v Schwartzenager.  His clear position is that Laws banning Gay Marriage not only make no sense, they are unconstitutional.  As a conservative he believes in individual liberty and freedom from government interference in the private lives of citizens.  Discriminating against people because of sexual orientation is a violation of both.  “This case could change the way people think about one another,” says Olsen.  “We are forever putting people into this box or that box, instead of just seeing each other as human beings.
